Your Lordship's despatch W:51 of the 24th of March last.
2. Upon the receipt of such report I thought the best course was to appoint a small Committee consisting of the Surveyor General, Mr Chadwick, and M. Bowdler, who have all more or less to do with Public Works, together with Mr N. Chater, an unofficial Member of the Legislative Council, to consider and report on the question of establishing a Store House for the different Branches of the Public Service, and I herewith forward the report of such Committee dated 6th June, 1890.
3. Your Lordship will observe that the Committee do not consider the establishment of a General Store Department necessary. All that appears essential, in the opinion of the Committee, is the appointment of a trained Accountant.
